At
a gala function held in September 2007 at Sydney’s
Bankstown Sports Club and seated alongside such industry
stalwarts as the late Don Lane and Barry
Crocker, Tony Pantano was clearly
emotional when it was announced he had
received the ‘MO’
Award 2007 for “Best Male Vocalist”
for a record eleventh time.
It
was a fitting tribute for an entertainer who has gained
international acclaim and for a gentleman who is without
doubt one of Australia's most likable showbiz personalities.
Tony is the epitome of the true professional whose performances
not only showcase his rich, warm voice but also an incredibly
varied repertoire which covers anything from ballads to
classical and rock.
And of course let's not forget the wit and charm with which
it is all delivered that places Tony amongst the very best
of the world's cabaret artists.
Numerous
appearances on national television, performances in just
about every notable venue in Australia and many overseas
(including a memorable night at the Olympia Theatre
in Paris) have all been interspersed with regular stints
on the most luxurious ocean cruise liners that sail the
seven seas.
Indeed
the year 2009 saw Tony in constant demand for cruising engagements
with the highlight being performances aboard P & O's
Dawn Princess on an eleven day cruise from
the magical island of Rhodes to the vibrant
Emirates city of Dubai.
Tony
has been a permanent headline act for over six years at
Melbourne's Crown Casino and earlier in
his career had two single hits and nine albums to his credit.
He has won the MO Award for "Best Male Vocalist"
a record breaking eleven times, the Gold Award for "Entertainer
Of The Year" (twice) and
received multiple nominations for the Ace Awards' "Best
Male Vocalist".
The
last few years has seen Tony back in the recording studio
producing a number of various song compilation CDs which
have been so successful they are now also distributed internationally
via the extremely popular iTunes Music Store.
To list all of Tony's achievements, anecdotes and career
highlights supported by an impressive photo gallery featuring
some of the world's most renowned performers would really
require a separate dedicated web site of its own!
As
administrator of Tony's catalogue of original
songs, GMP salutes this fine gentleman
and pays tribute to such a talented artist for his remarkable
and significant contribution to the Australian music scene.
